Description
The Biological Safety Cabinet is the most commonly used contaminant device for work with biohazard
agents or materials.
Biological Safety Cabinets that are installed, certified, used and serviced correctly offer user, environment and
sample protection from biohazards.
But much of this protection is lost if the cabinet is installed, used or serviced incorrectly.
To ensure adequate lab personnel protection, Biological Safety Cabinets need to be maintained in a
regular pattern.
Service entails:
- Decontamination (using hydrogen peroxide)
- Inflow velocity test
- Downflow velocity test
- Balancing inflow and downflow (if required)
- Balancing of motor voltage and damper opening
- HEPA/ULPA filter POA test
- Noise level test
- Lighting Intensity test
- Air flow smoke pattern test
Service report and certification issue with results (if BSC passes tests and adjustments)
