Description
ACS reagent, 97%
Synonym: Ferric chloride hexahydrate
Linear Formula: FeCl3 · 6H2O
Application
Iron(III)chloride hexahydrate can be used as a catalyst for the:
- Esterification of fatty acids and alcohols to synthesize fatty acid esters.
- Regioselective arylations of α-amido sulfones with electron-rich arenes to synthesize unsymmetrical or bis-symmetrical triarylmethanes via Friedel-Crafts alkylation.
- Synthesis of acyl azide derivatives by the acylation of sodium azide with N-acylbenzotriazoles.
