Description
Synonym: Nitrite chemical test strips
General description
Method: Colorimetric, with test strips, 0.5 – 1 – 2 – 5 – 10 mg/L (NO2–), MQuant®
The MQuant® The test can be used to determine nitrite in the environmental analysis, surface water investigations and aquaristics. The test extends the range of sensitivity into the lower range of detection. On the MQuant® Nitrite test strips, nitrite ions react with an aromatic amine to form a diazonium salt, which in turn reacts with N-(1-naphthyl)ethylenediamine to form a red-violet azo dye. The nitrite concentration is measured semi-quantitatively by visual comparison of the reaction zone of the test strip with the fields of a color scale. The test strips are perfect for pre-testing a sample in an economic and quick way to estimate the nitrite concentration and a possible dilution factor prior to using a quantitative method such as a Reflectoquant® or Spectroquant® Nitrite test.
