Description
General description
mTSB Broth with Novobiocin has been used for the selective enrichment of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) in foods intended for human and animal consumption (according to ISO 16654). The medium is used for the isolation and identification of Escherichia coli O157:H7 from meat according to the USDA-FSIS method. It is also recommended by the FDA-BAM as a method for the isolation of enterohemorrhagic E. coli. mTSB is made selective for E. coli O157:H7 by the addition of bile salts in the media along with being supplemented with Novobiocin.
Application

Preparation Note
Suspend 33 g in 1 litre of distilled water, autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
