General description
Sodium sulfate is an inorganic salt that is commonly used as a reagent as well as a catalyst in organic synthesis. Additionally, it is also used as a drying agent in organic synthesis due to its affinity for water and compatibility with most organic compounds. During the work-up, an organic phase is treated with anhydrous sodium sulfate for the removal of traces of water.
