Description
Definition
The pH value of dilute aqueous solutions is defined as the negative logarithm of the hydrogen ion concentration in mol/l: pH = -lg (H+ concentration)
Solutions are characterized as acidic, neutral, or alkaline according to their pH
Method
A non-chlorine-sensitive phenol red indicator solution changes color from yellow to red-violet depending on the pH. The resultant color is evaluated photometrically.
