Description
Synonyms: 1,1′-Hexamethylenebis[5-(4-chlorophenyl)biguanide]
Linear Formula: [-(CH2)3NHC(=NH)NHC(=NH)NHC6H4Cl]2
General description
Effect of the chlorhexidine:hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion compound on in vitro slabs of bovine dentine has been investigated.
Chlorhexidine is a cationic surfactant with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It is used as a disinfectant in periodontal therapy and surgical scrubs.
Application
Chlorhexidine, the “gold standard” in oral antiseptics, has been used to optimize novel slow release chlorhexidine coatings based on fatty acids in surgical sutures. Chlorhexidine, antibacterial agent, has been used in preparing chlorhexidine-functionalized calcium phosphate nanoparticles, useful for oral hygiene and dental treatment.
