Application
Tryptone is made by the pancreatic hydrolysis of casein. It has a high percentage of amino-acid nitrogen, as well as other growth factors required in culture media. Due to its high tryptone content its highly recommended for tests in which the formation of indole is expected. It is also included in media for the canning industry for the detection of thermophilic organisms causing “flat-sour” spillage.
