Description

General description

Nutrient Broth serves as a general-purpose medium designed for the cultivation of microorganisms with minimal nutritional demands. Its nutrient composition, derived from meat infusion and peptone, forms the basis of many culture media. Nutrient Broth No. 3 is a fundamental medium utilized for maintaining microbial cultures and verifying purity. It is particularly effective for cultivating and enumerating non-fastidious bacteria. In its semisolid form, it is ideal for preserving or controlling standard microbial strains. By incorporating biological fluids such as horse or sheep blood, serum, or egg yolk, the medium can be adapted to support the growth of fastidious microorganisms.

Application

Nutrient Broth No. 3 is a liquid medium which serves as base for the culture and accumulation of microorganisms.
